Yoga: Your Complete Energy & Wellbeing System
Share
If you’re showing interest in the practice of yoga, there are a few important things to understand:
- Yoga isn’t just a workout.
- Yoga isn’t just stretching.
- Yoga isn’t just for “mums”.
In fact, those three statements are about as far from the truth of what yoga actually is as you can get.
So what is it?
The title of this blog post is “Yoga: Your Complete Energy and Wellbeing System.” It’s a big claim! One you’ll see pop up all over your social media timelines.
And if you’ve ever mentioned yoga in front of your phone, you already know exactly what happens next. Endless ads for “wellbeing this, wellbeing that”, biohacks, miracle foods, and “lost ancient techniques” until you eventually tune out...
By tradition, yoga is a system born in India thousands of years ago. It was envisioned by the Rishis (the ancient seers) who deeply studied the mind, breath, and human consciousness. In those days, knowledge was passed down orally through hymns and prayers, with the Rig Veda being one of the earliest records.
What we’re really interested in is how these ancient sages developed what we now know as yoga. In short, the ultimate point of yoga is to realise the truth… your truth.
And if you can glimpse that, you may just glimpse the truth of everything.
Nice, right?
This truth was traditionally revealed through meditation. However, in the 21st century, we’re constantly bombarded with inputs and sensory overload, which creates stress and leaves very little room for a peaceful mind or body.
Many years ago, modern yoga began to take shape as teachers realised we needed more practical tools. Systems like Hatha and Ashtanga were developed (or adapted) to prepare the body and mind for deeper states of inner peace and meditation.
So here we are today, in possession of these powerful systems. The only thing left to do is actually practise them.
There is no quick fix for everything. However, if you follow these tried-and-tested systems with proper guidance, you can use the knowledge within yoga to improve every area of your life.
You won’t become Superman overnight, but with consistent practice you will experience:
• Increased feelings of wellbeing, energy, and libido
• Improved fitness, flexibility, and VO₂ max
• Calmer, more stable energy levels
• Better stress management
• Improved sleep
• Clearer thought processes
• Greater happiness and a closer connection to your true self
These are big claims, but they are true for those who do the practice and integrate it into their lifestyle. Yoga is designed to support you in daily life… not force you to run off to a cave in the Himalayas (although that can happen for some!).
What can we offer?
While we’re not ancient Rishi's, we are very dedicated yoga practitioners. Over the last 20+ years, yoga has had a hugely positive impact on our lives.
We can share these methods, distilled into simple, practical daily practices. I can guide you either in a personal 1-to-1 session or in a very small group setting.
In a one-to-one session, we can create a bespoke practice tailored specifically to you; your current abilities, your goals, your healing needs, and your personal growth.
We work with:
• Pranayama – Breathwork
• Asana – Postures and movement
• Mantra – Simple repetition of sound
• Meditation – Connecting to Self (and non-self)
• Yogic wisdom passed down through the ages
There is no one who cannot practise yoga.
If you can breathe, you can do yoga.
All you need is the correct attitude, a supportive diet, healthy inputs, and a genuine desire to improve yourself.
We would love to assist you on this journey.
